How to Make Iron Bars in Enshrouded: Smelter and Blast Furnace
Iron bars are 1 iron ore and 2 charcoal each at the Smelter, or iron ore and coal at the Blast Furnace. Full recipes, station costs and the charcoal chain.

To make Iron Bars in Enshrouded, smelt Iron Ore with Charcoal in a Smelter. Each bar costs 1 ore and 2 charcoal. Later, the Blast Furnace does twice as many per batch using Coal instead.
Iron bar recipes
| Station | Input | Output | Time |
|---|---|---|---|
| Smelter | 10 Iron Ore + 20 Charcoal | 10 Iron Bars | 300 s |
| Blast Furnace | 20 Iron Ore + 40 Coal | 20 Iron Bars | 300 s |
The ratio is the same at both stations: one ore and two fuel per bar. The furnace just runs a bigger batch in the same time. Both recipes are in the database as Iron Bars and Iron Bars.
Getting iron ore
No recipe makes Iron Ore, so you gather it. In the loot data it turns up only in one Scavenger corpse table, so mining is the main source. The game describes it as “the natural resource needed to create Iron Bars, an important material for every adventurer on the way to the top.”
Making charcoal
Charcoal comes from the Charcoal Kiln:
| Input | Output | Time |
|---|---|---|
| 12 logs (any wood type) + 3 dirt (any biome) | 10 Charcoal | 120 s |
Any log works: Wood Logs, Hardwood, Palm Wood Logs, Conifer Logs, Bamboo Logs or Tropical Wood. Dirt from any biome works too. One iron batch takes 20 charcoal, which is two kiln runs (24 logs and 6 dirt).
The Charcoal Kiln is cheap: 20 Stone, crafted at the Blacksmith.
Building the Smelter
The Smelter is a Blacksmith recipe:
- 50 Fired Bricks
- 1 Crucible
The recipe data also lists a Forge as a required prop.
- Fired Bricks: 1 Lump of Clay + 1 log at the Kiln, 30 seconds each. That’s 50 clay and 50 logs for one Smelter.
- Crucible: 3 Lump of Clay, 3 Springlands Dirt and 5 sand at the Blacksmith.
- Forge: 30 Stone, 10 Metal Scraps, 10 Charcoal and 12 Wood Logs at the Blacksmith.
Upgrading to the Blast Furnace
The Blast Furnace also comes from the Blacksmith:
- 20 Fired Bricks
- 1 Bellows
- 10 Lump of Clay
- 10 Iron Bars
- 30 sand (any type)
You need a Smelter’s worth of bars to build it. After that it doubles your iron per batch, as long as you have coal.
